Progress in Card 101

Image
I struggle to think of my progress in card 101. On one hand, I think my writing has improved, but on the other, I think it's hard to compare because the style of writing is completely different to how I wrote in high school. While I do think I've gotten better at posing questions and not stating things as fact when I don't have proper evidence, I do think there's a place for both forms of writing. In high school, for example, the papers I have written for this class would not have performed well. The same can be said the other way. If I had turned in a high school paper for the micro theme, it would have been poorly received.  I'm excited to continue writing throughout my college career and see where my writing style ends up by the end of my four years.

Rational Argument

I feel like my rational argument went really well. At first, I struggled to add adjectives and adverbs, but I think my revision includes a lot of good information mixed with signal phrases. My question focused on how primary school age children's reading abilities were impacted by the pandemic. I was shocked by severity of the information I found.  I really enjoyed how this assignment led me to question beyond just my original viewpoint. I figured that the pandemic had impacted reading abilities, but I didn't expect the impacts to stretch to oral reading fluency, or that the e-learning may have been more impactful than the pandemic itself.
